Happy Motivation Monday to you all!! Today I am excited to highlight my cousin Sheri. Sheri and I keep in touch mostly via Facebook. A few weeks ago, she shared pictures of her progress with her weight loss, and was gracious enough to let me share her story here.
Sheri had struggled with Type II Diabetes and when her Hemoglobin A1C (blood sugar) had reached 7.4 last May, she realized she needed to make some changes.
First, she decided to walk to and from work instead of drive. Sheri also started going on walks over her lunch breaks. When she would eat meals, she paid attention to what she did eat and cut back on portions. Eventually she quit drinking soda and tries to stay away from bread. She’s also made weight training a part of her regular routine. Now her A1C is at 6.5!
Sheri shared that her whole family has been supportive of her wellness goals, especially her husband. When asked how she stayed motivated on the hard days, her response was “I just kept walking.” What surprised Sheri the most about her weight loss was how much better her clothes fit and the fact that she was able to do it on her own.
When asked what advice she would give to someone who wants to start but just has not found the motivation, her response was, “Don’t ever say you can’t do it, because one day you realize you can. But it has to be on your time, not someone else’s.”
Thank you, Sheri! You are an inspiration to so many!!
