Don’t Wait to Make Changes

While searching for ideas this week, this quote really stood out to me the most.  For some reason, taking care of our health seems to take backseat to everything else in life.  We can say we can’t start something new until after ___________ (you name it). When that event passes there is always another reason not to put your health first.  The answers and reasons are endless and we can truly go through another whole year before remembering that there really was something we wanted to try. The key to lasting success is learning to plan for those events in life and not allowing them to be a barrier to a healthier you.

Don’t wait to make changes until you have to make changes.  None of us wants a major health event to change our lives forever.  Small changes to your routine over time really add up. Letting go of the all or none principle is key to success when it comes to your wellness.  Finding activities that you enjoy will also lead to greater success. When you enjoy what you are doing, somehow it doesn’t feel like a chore. Look for a post next week where I will also share a few great ways to keep yourself accountable to your plan.

Get started today, don’t let another day, week, month or year go by without truly taking care of your health.  Write down what it is you want to achieve! There is something about seeing the words on paper that make it even a little more real.  Start small and most of all be kind to yourself in the process. Remember it is your journey to take! That means you are going to find what works best for you and not what you think “should” work best.  Part of the fun is being willing to step outside of your comfort zone and try something new!
